Femoral and Obturator Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation
Femoral and Obturator Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation is a common therapeutic treatment option for many forms of hip pain, after successful diagnostic blocks of these nerves.
The goal of the procedure is pain relief for an extended period of time, to provide longer lasting benefit. Femoral and obturator Radiofrequency Ablation delivers heat directly (or very near) the source of pain generation, over the nerves that causes the joint of the hip to hurt. The x-ray (fluoroscope) guided procedures includes a local anesthetic and a special probe that delivers heat. The anesthetic interrupts the pain signal transmission, and the probe delivers heat to disrupt the nerve signal, which lasts up to a year.
